Golf score tracking with a skill-matched virtual opponent

A golf app where players log scores, review past rounds and compete against a virtual opponent calibrated to their own level.

Client — a sports app startup My role — Backend & API developer Team — 2 people
01 — Challenge

A virtual opponent is only motivating if it is genuinely matched to the player — too easy and it is meaningless, too hard and people stop playing. That calibration has to happen server-side from the player's own history.

02 — Approach

Built the scoring and history model in Laravel with a React Native client, deriving opponent difficulty from the player's submitted scores so the challenge tracks their actual level.

03 — Impact

Players track rounds, see progress over time, and compete against an opponent that scales with their game.
