I have not shipped a blockchain product, and I will not pretend otherwise.

Every technology page on this site states plainly how much I have actually done — "shipped once, in production", "one real ERP, honestly counted". This page keeps that standard. Zero production blockchain projects. That is the honest number.

How it works

So this is not a capability page. It is the answer I would give you on a call, written down.

Most projects that arrive described as blockchain problems are not. The requirement is usually one of: an audit trail nobody internal can alter, several parties needing to agree on one set of records, or provable document integrity. Every one of those has a mature, cheaper, faster answer — append-only tables with cryptographic hash chaining, a signed and timestamped event log, or a third-party notarisation service. Those solutions are boring, and boring is a feature when the thing you are protecting is a record that has to stand up years later.

Where a distributed ledger genuinely earns its place, the deciding factor is almost always that no single participant can be trusted to hold the database — a consortium of competitors, a public registry with adversarial participants, a real bearer asset. That is a narrow and specific set of conditions, and if your project meets them you need someone who has shipped it, not someone learning at your expense.

What I can usefully do: help you work out which of those two situations you are in, before the budget is committed. That conversation is free, it takes about twenty minutes, and it has saved people a great deal more than it cost. If you do need a ledger, I will say so and point you at people who build them. If you need an immutable audit trail — which is the far more common answer — that I can build.

What you get
  • A straight assessment of whether you need a ledger at all
  • Tamper-evident audit trails and signed event logs, if that is the real requirement
  • An introduction elsewhere when the answer is genuinely a blockchain
